JOB TITLE: Neurophysiology Technician I LOCATION: Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center DEPARTMENT: Neuroscience WORK SCHEDULE: Rotation WORK TYPE: Part Time (0.6 FTE- 48 hours biweekly)
JOB SUMMARY: The EEG Technologist I is an entry to mid-level position in the neurodiagnostic unit or department. The EEG Technologist I will perform EEGs procedures according to facility policy and procedures. The EEG Technologist I will maintain patient safety during clinically significant events, and other related duties. Communication skills are essential for this position. During EEG procedures for which competence has not been achieved, the EEG Technologist I trains under direct technical supervision. Once training is completed and all required institution competencies have been achieved, the EEG Technologist I works under indirect technical supervision.
It is expected that the institution employing the EEG Technologist I makes available the appropriate personnel to provide required direct technical supervision during training and indirect technical supervision.
Direct technical supervision requires that an EEG technologist II or a physician who performs all technical aspects required for electroencephalography must be physically present at all times during the procedure.
Indirect technical supervision requires that an EEG Technologist II or a physician who performs all technical aspects required for electroencephalography must be immediately available to provide assistance and direction throughout the procedure.
The EEG Technologist I works under the technical direction of the EEG Technologist II or higher and reports to administrative and clinical leadership as is defined by facility policy and procedures.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Enrolled in, or graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), accredited Electrodiagnostic (END) Program or an Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required.
Experience working in healthcare preferred.
Current BCLS certification preferred. Required to maintain.
Entry level PC and Microsoft™ Windows® knowledge.
Credentialing to be achieved within three years of hire.
