JOB TITLE: Supervisor, Environmental Services LOCATION: Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center DEPARTMENT: Environmental Services - Housekeeping WORK SCHEDULE: Nights. Monday to Friday, 10:30p to 7a. Weekend and holiday rotation. WORK TYPE: Full-time
JOB SUMMARY: Supervises and directs assigned Environmental Services (EVS) personnel. Assures assignments are completed properly and in compliance with healthcare safety and sanitation regulations. Communicates with other departments to solve problems. Ensures a professional and appropriate service standard while performing the job. Follows and enforces system wide standards as well as department specific service standards.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrated consistent delivery of detail-oriented health care cleaning and disinfecting services according to established best practice and system EVS policies
Demonstrates high regard for confidentiality
Demonstrates ability to read and follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively orally and in writing (in English).
Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to assume a variety of job assignments based on and to meet the needs of the department in order to facilitate patient care and throughput.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Services, or related field required. Minimum 1 year of experience with progressive growth in leadership abilities and responsibilities required, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Certified as a C.H.E.S.T. (Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician) by the Association for the Healthcare Environment of the American Hospital Association required within 18 months of their Supervisor start date, if not already certified.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Shift floating possible
Work is typically performed in an office, clinical or classroom environment.
Possesses the ability to stand for long periods as well as to walk long distances to perform inspections of both high and low items/areas.
