Job Summary
Offer expert medical care to adults and children. Evaluate, treat, and help prevent illnesses and injuries that occur regularly in the general population. Refer patients to specialists when needed for further diagnosis or treatment. Family Medicine physicians work at various clinics and locations across Denver Health.
The Public Health Physician will be part of the Public Health Institute at Denver Health (PHIDH) which has four public health clinics. We are seeking a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine/Pediatric trained physician who is interested in a public health career. The primary responsibilities will be providing care to patients including children and adolescents in the Tuberculosis Clinic and Denver Sexual Health Clinic with opportunities for career development. The position also provides support and consultation to Nurse Practitioners, RN case managers, and outside providers to help manage medically complex patients. PHIDH strives to understand and acknowledge systemic and structural barriers that perpetuate racial inequities in health outcomes and provide care and prevention services to underserved communities including LGBTQIA+ persons.
Essential Functions:
Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages with acute and chronic illnesses, including major and complicated, and perform procedures. (65%)
Provide preventative and therapeutic care for patients of all ages. This includes admitting patients, providing preventative care, acute care, prenatal care, injury care, management of chronic illnesses, and performing procedures. (30%)
May provide guidance to staff in providing care for patients in ambulatory or inpatient setting. (5%)
Education:
Doctorate Degree Graduate of an accredited medical school Required
Licenses:
MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required and
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Has adequate knowledge and skill of all privileged procedures as outlined in the Denver Health and Hospital Authority Department of Family Medicine Clinical Privileges documentation.
Computer skills required.
