The Division of Congenital Heart Program within the Department of Cardiology within the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director for our Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Program.
As the Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program, you will play a critical role in overseeing and growing the clinical, educational, and research mission of ACHD care across the Cedars-Sinai Health System. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of dedicated professionals, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, diagnostic accuracy, and operational efficiency for an increasingly complex and growing population of adults with congenital heart disease. Our ACHD Program benefits from close collaboration with our renowned pediatric and fetal cardiology teams, advanced cardiovascular imaging program, structural heart disease program, electrophysiology services, advanced heart failure and transplant program, and cardiac surgery, providing a comprehensive continuum of care from fetal diagnosis through adulthood.
The ACHD Program serves patients across the main CSMC campus and affiliated sites, with a dedicated team of ACHD-trained cardiologists and close partnerships with our Pediatric and Fetal Cardiology faculty. The program provides comprehensive longitudinal care for patients transitioning from pediatric to adult congenital cardiac care, including outpatient consultative care, advanced cardiac imaging, catheter-based and surgical interventions, and management of high-acuity conditions such as single ventricle physiology, pulmonary hypertension, and heart failure in the ACHD population.
The role of the director will also include maximizing research productivity in the field of adult congenital heart disease at Cedars-Sinai and mentoring fellows and junior faculty in career development in this arena. Collaboration with Pediatric and Fetal Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Electrophysiology, Advanced Heart Failure, and Cardiac Imaging is a priority for the department. This position will also include participation in outpatient and inpatient consultative care for adults with congenital heart disease.
The ACHD Program is experiencing sustained growth, driven by increasing demand for specialized care as advances in pediatric congenital heart disease treatment continue to improve survival into adulthood. Cedars-Sinai is uniquely positioned to capitalize on this growth through its fully integrated congenital heart program, which spans fetal cardiology, pediatric cardiology, congenital cardiac surgery, adult congenital heart disease, advanced imaging, electrophysiology, structural heart interventions, and advanced heart failure and transplantation. The Director will have the opportunity to further expand regional and national referral networks, develop innovative multidisciplinary care models, and enhance access to highly specialized ACHD services throughout Southern California and beyond.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative and academically rich environment with access to extensive institutional resources to support clinical innovation, translational research, quality improvement initiatives, and program development. Opportunities exist to expand participation in national registries, multicenter clinical research, and educational initiatives while helping shape the future direction of ACHD care within one of the nation's leading cardiovascular programs. The position offers the ability to build upon a strong existing foundation while developing a vision for continued growth, outreach, and excellence in clinical care, education, and research.
The Smidt Heart Institute is widely recognized as a leader in the delivery of cardiovascular care and a pioneer in the development of new treatments and diagnostic tools.
